Merle was a great man who loved Jill dearly. I remember being a Junior bridesmaid in their wedding. I know he will be missed by his family. He was such an honorable man with a gentle spirit. I am glad I knew him and your Mom for many years .May God take care of your family during this sad time. Mary Jo Carlson-Welcome

Where to start? I have many memories of Merle & Jill. Both of them created so many positive memories based on knowing them my entire life. Both of them were intertwined in my parents (Joyce & Jim Rowe) lives. Merles' & Jill's impact was so consistently positive.
Specifically with Merle, whether it was hunting, golfing, playing cards, or just having a conversation over a meal. He was always smiling, engaged, calm, and a joy to be in his company. The discussions regarding Darlington/Badger/Packer football, business, past work projects, politics, or recent events, were always thoughtful and stimulating.
For my father, Merle was always there to help him when he most needed it. Merle was a true best friend. Merle and him had a consistent lunch schedule to check up on one another.
For me, Merle, was like a good Uncle, that I always made sure that I visited or talked to him with when I returned to WI.
Without hesitation or pause, my words are inadequate. Simply put, my heart is saddened for Merle's family, relatives, and friends because we have all lost a unique and wonderful man. Lastly, I have one wish that we could one more time tromp through fall forest grouse hunting with Merle in Northern WI.

My sincere condolences to Merle's family. I only knew him a short time after my parents moved into Reena Assisted Living. I have had the pleasure of sharing a few meals with Merle. My siblings and I always enjoyed his friendship and conversations. Trips to Reena will not be the same without seeing Merle there. God's Speed!
