Obituary of Gene Arthur Gronholz

Gene Arthur GRONHOLZ, age 71, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, surrounded by his family at Sylvan Crossing in Jefferson, WI. �Gene was born in New Ulm, Minnesota on July 14, 1937, the son of Arthur and Gunde (Wacker) Gronholz.� He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther High School.� Gene served his country as a Radiology Specialist assigned to the 327th Strategic Air Command, U.S. Airforce from 1958 until 1962. He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and received a Masters Degree in Counseling from U.W. Madison.� He taught elementary school at Weyauwega, WI, and served as principal at both Columbus, WI and West Lutheran High School in Hopkins, Minnesota.� Gene served as Family Counselor and Administrator for WLCFS in Fort Atkinson, WI.� On June 13, 1959, Gene married Carol Ann Karsten at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Minnesota.� Gene was a faithful servant in the Lord's work. �Surviving are: Wife: Carol A. Gronholz, Fort Atkinson, WI, Son: Jeffrey (Mary) Gronholz, Watertown, WI, Son: Todd (Sue) Gronholz, Beaver Dam, WI, Son: Scott (Mary) Gronholz, Beaver Dam, WI, Grandchildren: Isaiah, Justin, Heather, Stefanie & Jacob, Great-Grandson: Garrett Gronholz, Brother: Jerry (Miriam) Gronholz, Appleton, WI, Brother: John (Memory) Gronholz, New Ulm, MN, Brother: James (Linda) Gronholz, Mankato, MN, Sister-In-Law: Claudine Karsten, Sacramento, CA.� Gene is further survived by 2 aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. �Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy. �Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 11:00AM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with Rev. Paul Scharrer and Rev. Michael Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with military graveside rites. �Friends may call from 5-8PM on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson and after 10:00AM on Saturday at the church until the services. �Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Rainbow Hospice or Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills.
