Obituary of Carolyn Andren

CAMBRIDGE, WI/PALM CITY, FLORIDA� - Carolyn "Timmie' Andren passed away on March 22, 2009, a week and a day after celebrating her 90th birthday with friends and family at "Our House" in Cambridge, WI. � Born on March 14, 1919 in Plymouth, WI, Carolyn Ella Timm was the daughter of Ella (Stark) and Milton O.R. Timm. Upon entering Kindergarten, her teacher nicknamed her "Timmie" as there were two Carolyns in the class.� �Dubbed "Peppy Carolyn" in her hometown newspaper - a nod to her track prowess and boundless energy - she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison following her 1936 high school graduation - a year ahead of her Kindergarten classmates. �During her freshman year at college, Timmie met fellow student, Bertil T. Andren, at a "Dateless Dance" at the First Congregational Church on campus. They danced all night long, she recalled - but he didn't call for three weeks. When he finally did, they became inseparable, eloping to Detroit, Michigan two years later when Bertil got a job at the Chrysler Corporation working on the Sherman tank. They married on September 16, 1939. �After WWII, Timmie and Bertil made their home in the Detroit area, where he spent the majority of his career as an engineer for Ford Motor Company (and was the Product Planning engineer for the original Mustang) and she was a homemaker. The couple enjoyed life in the Motor City's heyday until 1971 when they moved to Essex, England, finally retiring to Stuart, Florida in 1974. They were summer residents at Lake Ripley for over 50 years where Bertil's father, Birger and his wife Mathilda Andren, first purchased a cottage in 1927. �Following Bertil's death, Timmie moved to Sandhill Cove in Palm City, Florida where she lived until October 1, 2008, when her daughter Barbro McGinn brought her back to live near her family in Wisconsin.� �Timmie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederick "Fritz" Timm and his wife Masako "Mike" Timm, her husband Bertil, two sisters-in-law, Geta Andren and Eva Finn, and brother-in-law Dr. Charles Finn. �She is survived by three daughters, Kristin (Pete) Dedich, Flat Rock, NC; Karin (Blaine) Eynon, Bloomfield Hills, MI and Barbro (Jack) McGinn, Cambridge, WI, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and just recently, a great great nephew, Niklas Stephan Wudtke who was born on March 2, 2009. And life goes on. �A memorial service for Timmie will be held in the summer.
