Obituary of Steven E. Hayes

Steven Hayes, age 55, of Cambridge died Friday, April 3, 2009 unexpectedly at home following an apparent cardiac event.� He was born June 30, 1953 in Lewiston, Idaho the son of Howard and Betty (Bowles) Hayes.� Steve served his country in the U.S. Army special operations in conjunction with NATO.� He was married to Karen Christensen on July 20, 1998.� He spent much of his life in the western United States working as a civil engineer until moving to rural Cambridge in 2004.� He enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, just being in the mountains, and had a general love of working with animals.� �Steve is survived by his wife Karen of Cambridge. Son: Nathan Levi Meirer of Wyoming Daughter: Heidi Marie (Ricky) Buono of Colorado Son: Justin Hayes of Utah 2 Granddaughters: Alexis and Samantha 2 Sisters: Jill Ann and Debra Kay He is also survived by aunts, uncles, step-brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church with Rev. Clint Schnekloth officiating.� Military Rites will be conducted by the Madison Area Veterans Firing Squad.� Friends may call on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge from 5-7 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at church.� Memorials may be made to the church.
