Obituary of Paul Ollie Zastrow

Paul O. Zastrow, age 89 of N3823 W Cedar Rd, Cambridge, died at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital on June 21, 2009. Born in Bartlett, Kansas on October 18, 1919, he was the ninth of ten children of William and Elisabeth (Mack) Zastrow. The family moved to the farm near Cambridge in 1921. After graduating from Cambridge High School, he continued farming throughout his life and also worked for 22 years as a meat cutter at Jones Dairy Farm, Fort Atkinson. On August 19, 1945 he married Esther K. Larsen. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Cambridge. After a lifetime of farming, he was always ready to share the bountiful, organic produce from his garden. Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Dale) Herrick of Janesville, WI and Jean (Tom) Vergeront of Rhinelander, WI; grandchildren, Karin (Jon) Jamel of Glendale, WI; Kristin (Derek) Nisiewicz of Bayside, WI; Ryan Vergeront of Madison, WI; Amy Vergeront of Rhinelander, WI; great-grandchildren Ean and Iris Jamel; a sister, Irma Hartman of Muncie, IN. and a brother, Harold (Gerry) Zastrow of Fort Atkinson, WI; He was anxiously awaiting the birth of triplet great-grandchildren later this year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in May 1978; his daughter, Wendy K. Uncapher, in November 2008; his siblings, Arline, Ida, Dorothy, William, Arthur, Helen and Viola. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, Cambridge, with Rev. Michael Rehak officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Ripley Cemetery.
