Obituary of Orville Alfred Lemke

Orville Alfred Lemke was born on December 17, 1921 to Martin G. Lemke Sr. and Esther L. (Tonne) Lemke, the eldest of five children in Fort Atkinson, WI. He passed away at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital on June 26, 2009 after a brief illness Following high school Orville joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 served for several years, was discharged and re-enlisted in the Air Force. He served honorably for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1964. He was a Maintenance Chief for the Flying Fortress B17. He was extremely proud of his service. He was married to Mary Margeruitte (Peggy) Welborne in September,1945, who preceded him in death in 1994, and is survived by four children: Michael Orville, wife Lisa, Alphareta, GA, Bishop Rev. Diana Margaret Gray, Jamestown, ND, David Bruce, wife Myrnie, Half Moon Bay, CA and Barry Wayne, San Mateo, CA. He has 8 grand children and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was also preceded in death by his sister Alice Schmidt, Johnson Creek, WI and his brother Merrill Martin Lemke, Fresno, CA. He is survived by his brother Martin G. (Carol) Lemke Jr., Ft. Atkinson, WI and his sister Dorothy Lawson, King, WI. After his decorated military service, he owned and operated a Jewel T Home Shopping Service in Napa, CA for many years. His hobbies included growing orchids, building model airplanes and boats, which he gave away to children of his friends to play with. He loved golf, his pets, listening to polkas and big band music, playing cards, and his family. He supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was proud to be a member. A religious man who always had faith and lived his life honorably. He will be remembered fondly. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July, 3, 2009 at 11:00AM at St. Paul�s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with Rev. Michael Duncan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
