Obituary of Ewald John Reichert

Ewald �Rick� John REICHERT, age 86, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Madison, WI. Rick was born in Fort Atkinson on April 6, 1923, the son of Emil and Ella (Stark) Reichert. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School and from Marquette University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpman, seeing duty in the South Pacific. Upon his return stateside he served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for over 30 years retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer. On February 1, 1949, Rick married Joyce Radtke in Fort Atkinson. Rick was the clinical lab manager for the Fort Hospital for 35 years and also a courier for 14 years. He served as Jefferson County Coroner for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Rick was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, the Men's Club, and also served on the Church Council. Rick was a member of the Paul Frank Florine American Legion Post #166, and a past member of the Fort Atkinson Lions Club. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking and traveling. �Surviving are: Wife: Joyce Reichert, Fort Atkinson, WI, Two Sons: Kurt (Paula)Reichert, Lodi, WI, and Thomas (Rebecca) Reichert, Delavan, WI, and Two Daughters: Karen (Lee) Schmeling, Muskego, WI, and Julie (Richard) Bemis, Janesville, WI, Grandchildren: Heather Reichert, Nicholas Reichert, Christopher Reichert, Ryan (Julie) Reichert, Chad and Jason (Mindy) Schmeling and Ten Great-Grandchildren, and Sister: Viola (Bill) Robisch, Jefferson, WI. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law Rudolph "Rudy" and Marie Reichert. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson with Rev. Michael Duncan. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Paul�s Ev. Lutheran Church or Lakeside Lutheran High School.
