Obituary of Edwin John Luedtke

Edwin John LUEDTKE, age 88, of Jefferson, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Countryside Home, in Jefferson, WI. Edwin was born in Jefferson, Wisconsin on February 3, 1922, the son of John and Caroline (Belstner) Luedtke. He was baptized on March 5, 1922 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Jefferson and confirmed at St. John's Church on April 14, 1935. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1939. Ed served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII from September 25, 1942 until September 1, 1945. On July 10, 1948, Ed married Ruth Ehlenfeldt at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Jefferson. Ruth preceded him in death on July 23, 1991. Ed established Luedtke Plumbing, Inc. of Jefferson in 1954 and retired in February 1987. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson where he served on various boards and committees. He was a supporter of Lakeside Lutheran High School, serving on the General Board, and an avid fan of their athletic programs. David) Kolander of Brookfield, WI, Joyce (Rick) Herro of Jefferson, WI, Lisa (Tom) Plath of Memphis, TN, and Jeffrey Luedtke of Jefferson, WI, Grandchildren: Justin and Sarah Luedtke, Lindsay, Eric and Kristin Schultz, Bradley, Alison and Nina Luedtke, Taylor and Matt Smith, Ryan, Anna and Emma Kolander, Lauren and Kayli Herro, Leah (Jon) Burns, and Kyle, Taylor and Caitlin Plath, Sister: Elaine (Jack) Hebbe of Jefferson,WI and Special Friend: Ruth Rosin. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 21, 2010, at 3:00PM at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Jefferson, Wisconsin with Rev. David Kolander officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Jefferson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 1:00PM on Sunday at the church until the services.
