Obituary of Richard Carl Wendt

Richard Carl WENDT, age 72, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. Richard was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on June 9, 1937, the son of Sonny and Katy (Yauck) Wendt. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard as a rifle sharpshooter and carbine expert. On January 26, 1957, Richard married Rita Jean Powers at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Rita preceded him in death on April 6, 2008. Richard worked as a tool and dye maker for J-Star in Fort Atkinson. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Richard loved fishing with his buddy Harley and then distributing the datch of the day to family and friends. He enjoyed going up north to his trailer, getting together with his family in his basement, making wine, watching ball games and woodworking. Richard also liked going downtown to visit with Arnie. Surviving are: Son: Victor (Susan) Wendt, Fort Atkinson, WI, Two Daughters: Patrice Burnette (Ron Steinke), Fort Atkinson, WI, and Lisa (Dean) Brunk, Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandchildren: Eric Burnette, Lori (Gabe) Milton, Heidi (Jesse) Riedl, Katy Ramaika, Nick Brunk and Josh Derr , Great-Grandchildren: Cole and Wyatt Riedl and Oliver and Nola Milton , Sister: Joyce Schroeder, Janesville, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 12, 2010, at 11:00AM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson with Rev. Bill Beyer officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, located in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin Friends may call after 9:30AM on Friday at the funeral home until the services.
