I have known lester since the day I was born, he was a quiet man who was slow to critize, but always ready to help. As a little girl one of my favorite places to sit was in his lap. It tried to figuar out the "dent" in his chin! Many times I fell asleep in his lap on Sunday nights before we headed back to Milwaukee. That lap was was a very safe place for me. We had fun camping even though we had to stop many times to fix a flat. Even thought with both families (13 people) we never had any disagreements, it seemed we all just got along. there was always a lot of laughter and joyful fun. But the greatest gift was his deep belief in God and how we loved to sing good old gospel hymns.
Many times in the last few years I could call him and we would remember the good days and all the fun we had. These were special times for me.
There is now be a big whole in my heart. But he will never be forgoten.
To his family I send my love and prayers as they come to terms with his passing, knowing that he is much happier up there with Eleamor, Tom and Rigmor; and many others; having coffee and playing Rook!

We will so miss Lester. He was a truly wonderful neighbor and a beacon for the community. Often, Dean and I would simply explain where we lived by saying we lived next door to Lester Jarlsberg. I will always remember the kindness he showed to Dean and I and our "kids" the dogs Sadie, Barney and Bammer. He was also key to saving our cat Ramsey from hanging one day when we left on his leash him too long out at the picnic table. I was always so happy when our raspberries finally came in in the summer so I could share some of the first crop with him. He gave us advice on ants and told us not to worry that our yard was uneven...he was a blessing to us and we are better for knowing him.
