Obituary of Donald R. Peterson

Donald Robert PETERSON, age 87, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home. Donald was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on June 11, 1923, the son of Sanford and Emma (Hartwig) Peterson. He resided in Fort Atkinson all his life. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mate during WWII. On August 6, 1943, Don married Marie J. Livingston in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Don worked at Jones Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson for 38 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening. Surviving are: Wife: Marie Peterson, Fort Atkinson, WI, Son: Robert Lewis (Fran Russell) Peterson, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Son: Alan (Carolyn) Peterson, Fort Atkinson, WI, Daughter: Patricia Staller, Iron Mountain, MI, Son: David (Angie) Peterson, Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandchildren: Curtis (Olga) Staller, Mark (Nicole) Peterson, Mindy (Jim) Reichenbach, Jessica (Jeremy) Hoeye, and Jeanette (Troy King) Peterson, Step-Grandchildren: Melissa (Brock) Skov, Ashby (Jennifer) Hibbs, Nolan (Maria) Hibbs, Blake and Jason Hibbs. Great-Grandchildren: Aubrey, Ashley, & Elijah Peterson, Angelynn & Josephine Hoeye and Zoey King, Brother: Raymond (Lola) Peterson, Fort Atkinson, WI, and Sister: Lois (David) Bielefeldt, Fort Atkinson, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his sisters: Irene Kraus, Dorothy Peterson, and Helen Mepham, brothers: Dean and Roger Peterson and grandson, Damian Staller. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ethan Steinbrenner and Rev. Steven Wilkens officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10:00AM on Friday at the church until the services.
