Obituary of Martha Helen Josephine Yeadon

Martha Helen Josephine YEADON, age 94, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, fomerly of Holcombe, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Autumn Winds, in Cambridge, WI. Martha was born at home in Cable, Wisconsin on November 16, 1915, the daughter of John and Josephine (Meyers) Krzykalak. At age 5, following the death of her mother, Martha went to live with her Godmother, Casimer Mikelewski. She attended school in Cable, Wisconsin. On May 1, 1944, Martha married Edison Yeadon at a county courthouse in Minnesota. Ed preceded her in death in February of 1980. Martha and Ed moved to Holcombe, Wisconsin where they farmed for a living. They also ran the Flambeau Store for a while. Following Ed's death, Martha started cleaning houses for other people, she drove children to school, served as the custodian at her church, and worked at West's Potato Ranch during the fall harvest season for 25 years. She remained in Holcombe until July of 2003, when she moved to a senior residential apartment in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Martha was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She cleaned the church, shoveled snow, washed linens and maintained the wood fired furnace until a gas furnace was installed. Martha had provided care for many people in the community. She was well known for her generosity for driving neighbors to doctors appointments, to do shopping, and to provide rides to church. Surviving are: Two Children: Antoinette "Toni" Sylvia (James) Comito, Sarasota, Fl, and Frederick Edison (Ann) Yeadon, Cambridge, WI, and Rose Ann West, Grandchildren: Denise (Mark) Staehler, Wendy Sue (Peter) Yeadon-Stark, and Jodi Leigh (Joseph) Kelter, Step-Grandchildren: Carren (Rob) Verderber and Deb (Brad) Cochrane, Great-Grandchildren: Kristen Ashley Staehler, Caitlyn Marie Staehler, Shelby Rose Kelter, Rachel Kay Kelter, Dalton Harley Yeadon-Stark, and Samuel Kane Yeadon- Stark, Step-Great-Grandchildren: Peter John Stark, Amanda Louise Stark, Jennifer (Showalter) Sciani, Justin Showalter, Colleen Lloyd, Andrew Verderber, and Kelsey Verderber. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edison, a sister, Margaret Krzykalak, and an infant brother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 23, 2010, at 12:00PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Holcombe, Wisconsin. Burial will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Holcombe, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 5-7PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI and after 11AM on Friday, July 23, 2010 at St. Franics of Assisi Catholic Church, Holcombe, WI until the Mass.
