Obituary of Harriet Jean Jacobs

Harriet Jean JACOBS, age 74, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI. Harriet was born on October 9, 1935 in Cold Spring Township the daughter of Harold and Murtie (Riggs) Lentz. She grew up on various farms in the Hebron and Whitewater area before graduating in 1953 from Whitewater High School. Harriet married Don Jacobs in Whitewater on Sept 4, 1954, and just recognized their 56th wedding anniversary. She was the bookkeeper for Don Jacobs Trucking, a family business they operated together for over 61 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a past president of American Legion Auxillary. At heart Harriet was family minded and devoted much time and effort especially to her grandchildren. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Surviving are: Husband: Don Jacobs, Whitewater, WI, Son: Dave (Fiance Julie McWilliam) Jacobs, Whitewater, WI, Grandchildren: Jeremy Jacobs, Whitewater, WI, Jason (Laura) Jacobs, Whitewater, WI, and Jenni Jacobs, Whitewater, WI, Great Granddaughter: Reagan Hammons, and Brother: Richard (Donna) Lentz, Fort Atkinson, WI. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jim in 1970. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 11:00AM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Karen Klatt officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 10-11 on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Whitewater.
