Obituary of Fay E. Carnes

Fay E CARNES, age 89, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010 surrounded by his family, at Alden Estates at Countryside, in Jefferson, WI. Fay was born in the Town of Koshkonong, Wisconsin on May 26, 1921, the son of Fayette E. and Hulda (Pelchen) Carnes Sr. On November 24, 1945, Fay married Irene Josephine Prust at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. Fay was a dairy farmer, a tool salesman and a real estate agent for Bill Stade. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, a card club member for 50 plus years, enjoyed woodworking and fishing and was a Milwaukee Brewer Fan. Surviving are: Wife: Irene Carnes, Fort Atkinson, WI, His Children: Randall (Darlene) Carnes, Whitewater, WI, Jan (Tony) Amato, Oceanside, CA, Linda (Otto) Hopp, Edgerton, WI, Sandra (Robert) Wolfram, Fort Atkinson, WI, James (Laura) Carnes, Fort Atkinson, WI, and Cheryl (Jeff) Griedl, Fort Atkinson, WI, Twenty-Two Grandchildren and Thirty Great-Grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters: Jesse Belstner and Genevieve Westphal and many nieces and nephews. Fay was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Howard, Woodrow and Harvey Carnes, and sisters: Dorothy Wescott, Evelyn Schimming, Edna Knoepfel and Hazel Draeger. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 6, 2010, at 11:00AM at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson with Rev. Ethan Steinbrenner and Rev. Steven Wilkens co-officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date in the Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8PM on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson and after 10AM on Monday at the church until the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or to St. Paul's Lutheran School.
