Obituary of Edith Evelyn Smith

Edith Evelyn SMITH, age 74, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, in Fort Atkinson, WI. Edith was born on December 15, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the daughter of Elmer and Elsie (Heiderich) Keske. Edith graduated from Greendale High School. On August 4, 1956 she married Jameson Smith in Milwaukee, WI. Jameson preceded her in death on May 7, 1963. Edith was a resident of the Cold Spring and Whitewater areas until 2006, when she moved to the Cambridge area. Edith was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. She was a past 4-H member, was an avid reader, and enjoyed embroidery, and knitting. Edith spent the last several years of her life at London Lodge. Those who shared in this time admired her generosity, willingness to help others, her sense of humor and ability to laugh in times of adversity. She had a a very kind heart and a sentimental nature. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Surviving are: Son: Irving Smith, Madison, WI, Her Siblings: Paul (Kay) Keske, Franklin, WI, June (Wesley) Freeman, Whitewater, WI, Russell (Pat) Keske, East Troy, WI, Elmer (Ruth) Keske Jr., Whitewater, WI, Eunice (Bill) Soderdahl, Mukwonago, WI, Loren (Jane) Keske, Van Wert, OH, Kenneth (Arlene) Keske Sr., Brookfield, WI, Karen (Frank) Bauza, New Berlin, WI, Judy (David) Coburn, Beloit, WI, and Janelle (David) Roe, Whitewater, WI, Sister-in-Law: Susan Alboyani, Inglewood, CA, and 28 Nieces and Nephews. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and an infant daughter Cheryl. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00AM the First English Lutheran Church, 417 W. Main Street, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Steven Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Park Cemetery, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10AM on Tuesday at the church until the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater.
