Any graduate of UWW, from any generational era or geographic area, would be hard pressed NOT to be aware of the contributions of the Kachel family to the University and community at large. Confidence with grace.

I just found out about Mr. Kachel's passing. I always respected him and remember seeing him all over town. He gave me my first job at Hawk Bowl doing janitorial work. He was always fair to me and I enjoyed talking to him.
My condolences go to his family and close friends.

Condolences to the family of Dave Kachel.
He helped me get started with live music at The Hawk Bowl in 1959.
I remember him with great respect, as a tough, but fair negotiator who didn't seem to mind loud Rock and Roll.

To Lolita, his Children (whom I consider friends), and Grandchildren;
David was a fine person. In my six years at UWW we disagreed on multiple occasions, but I never doubted his honesty. He was passionate in his love of the University and all of the Whitewater community. So many of the things we were able to accomplish at the University came about because of his financial support, and that is well known. What is not known, and will never be, is just how many of the ideas for growth, building, and improvement came originally from him.

Dear Lolita and family
I just wish to express my sincere deepest sympathy to you at this time. I have thought of you and your family many times over the years and am sorry that I never stopped to say hello. My heart is with you at this time and I do express my sympathy to you. It has been 47 years since I left Whitewater where I enjoyed your dear Mother in Law Jessica and your family, it was so nice to have a family atmosphere while attending UW-Whitewater. Again, I express my sympathy to you, David was indeed a marvelous man and someone you should all be so very proud. Sincerely Richard Steele
