Obituary of Gary G. VanderMause

Gary G VanderMause, age 75, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with Parkinson�s disease, with his family by his side. Gary was born in Brussels, Wisconsin on May 3, 1935, the son of the late Elmer and Esther (Zephirin) VanderMause. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1954 and Spencerian College, Milwaukee in 1961. On September 1, 1962, Gary married Judith DeLoye at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He was employed with Uncle Josh Bait Company and retired from Atlas Bait Company, both of Fort Atkinson. He was an avid sports fan. Countless hours were spent coaching his children and cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many activities. He enjoyed playing golf, and was an active member of the Lions Club. He was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Catholic Parish. Gary loved spending time at their cottage with his family and friends. Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy VanderMause, Fort Atkinson, WI, daughter, Karen (Mark) Nelson, Fort Atkinson, WI, sons: Ron (Carla) VanderMause, Neenah, WI, and Mark (Lisa) VanderMause, Verona, WI, and daughter: Julie (Jason) Sass, DeForest, WI. Gary loved his eleven grandchildren: Ryan (Kelly) Nelson, Danielle Nelson; Lauren, Nathan and Taylor VanderMause; Ian, Dayne, and Mia VanderMause; Riley, Brayden, and Ashley Sass. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Mary VanderMause, Fort Atkinson and Dianna (Milo) Evans, Grover, MO; and brother-in-law Pete (Carol) DeLoye, Eagle River, WI. His aunt Madeline (Herman) Neinas, Brussels, WI; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his brother, James VanderMause. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at 12:00PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson with Father Jay Poster celebrating. Visitation will begin at 10AM on Wednesday at the church until the time of Mass, a private burial will follow the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the Blackhawk Senior Residence, Alden Estates of Countryside, family, friends, and neighbors for their loving care and support.
