Obituary of Julia Appelonia Trailer

Julia Appelonia Trailer, age 97, of Cambridge, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2001 at Autumn Winds in Cambridge. Julia was born in Streator, Illinois on February 9, 1914, the daughter of Andrew and Julia (Smelko) Molchan. In 1937, Julia married Fred William Trailer in East Chicago, Illinois. Fred and Julia owned and managed cottages on Lake Ripley. Julia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church where she served as the President of the Presbyterian Church Women from 1960-1961. She was the second woman elder of the church and she was the first woman elder to greet, usher, and serve communion. In 1991 Julia received the Outstanding Senior Presbyterian Woman of the Year Award from The Synod of Lakes and Prairies. She served as President of the Ruth Circle and served as a lector and taught Adult Sunday School for five years. Julia tap danced until she was 89 years of age and was proud of it. She was also a very good seamstress, making all of her own clothers and was always proud to wear a hat. She was an avid rug braider and had a wonderful sense of humor. Surviving: Two sons: Richard �Dick� (Mary) Trailer, Cambridge, WI and Frederick Trailier, Cambridge, WI, Nieces: Maylou Fischer, Jane Beard, and Emir Huss, Nephews: Jim and David Hill, and Drew Molchan, Step-Granddaughters: Kerri (Karl) Klimiski and Kristi (Jim) Hohlstein and she was known as �Grandma Great: to her five great-grandchildren: Cassie, Cory, Connor, Kaitlyn, and Kayla. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and a sister. Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, Wisconsin with Rev. Sandy Nuernberg officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Town of Oakland, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10AM on Saturday at the church until the services.
