Obituary of John and Delores Harrington

Delores �Dee� Elsie Harrington, age 81, and John Joseph Harrington, age 87, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011, as a result of an automobile accident in the Town of Christiana, Wisconsin. Delores was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on February 11, 1930, the daughter of William and Lucille (Lemke) Zimmerman. John was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on August 15, 1923, the son of John and Tilla (Johnson) Harrington. John served his country in the U.S. Army, fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star. On June 21, 1947, the couple were married on the first day of summer in Iowa. Delores retiried from Nasco in Fort Atkinson and John was in sales until retirement from the Sargento Company. The couple were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson and the VFW, American Legion, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. John was a member of the Fort Atkinson Lion�s Club. They enjoyed their grandchildren, going to breakfast with friends, and playing games of opportunities of chance. Dee enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking cookies, NASCAR, and the Chicago Bears, and John was "Mr. Fixerupper" and an avid Packer fan. They both were supporters of the Fort Atkinson Band Boosters and later were fans and supporters of the Fort Atkinson Generals. Surviving are: Children: John Robert (Loretta) Harrington, Fountain City, WI, Todd Allen (Beverly) Harrington, Commerce City, CO, and Sandra Dee (James) Diener, Sheboygan, WI, Grandchildren: Timothy, Douglas (Patricia), Bradley, Jason (Jennifer), Aaron, Stephanie (Korey Feiner), and Great-Grandchildren: Austin and Elizabeth, Dee�s niece and nephew: Roger and Donna and John�s cousins: Julie Orbank and Betty Hagerty. They are further survived by other relatives and friends. Dee was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Herman "Bumpa" Kunkle, Step-sister Beulah (Clarence) Schroeder, Grandmother Ida Lemke, and great-uncles and aunts: Alvin and Elsie and Harry and Lou Walaske. John was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 1:00PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Private family burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 9AM on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson until the time of the service. �One of many lessons from our grandparents was that of kindness to others.�
