Obituary of Harvey and Leona Schultz

Harvey P. Schultz, 93, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011 and Leona B. Schultz, 93, of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living in Johnson Creek. Harvey was born in Watertown on Sept. 9, 1917, the son of William and Martha (Willing) Schultz. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1936. Harvey served his country during World War II in the US Army from Dec. 5, 1942-Nov. 15, 1945. After the war, he worked at Dairy Distributors in Watertown from 1945-1954. He then worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in the patrol and detective divisions from 1954 until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jefferson serving on the church council and stewardship board and a faithful member of the men's club. Leona was born in Watertown on August 20, 1917, the daughter of August and Frieda (Bennin) Maron. She was baptized on Sept. 23, 1917 and later confirmed on March 31, 1931 both at St. Mark's in Watertown. She was a 1935 graduate of Watertown High School. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper at Dairy Distributors in Watertown where she met Harvey. She was a member of St. John�s Lutheran Church and it�s Ladies Aid and the Lakeside Ladies Guild. They are survived by two sons, David (Peg) of Oregon and Donald (Lois) of Jefferson; grandchildren Kara (Tod) VanRoy and Lindsay, Eric and Kristin Schultz along with many special nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: William (Loretta) and Roy (Cecil) Schultz and one sister Florence (Veldon) Hoppe. Leona was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Walter (Mary) and Clarence Maron. Funeral services will take place Thurs. June 2, 2011, at 12:00PM at St. John�s Lutheran Church in Jefferson with Rev. Mark Bartsch officiating. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10:00AM on Thurs. at the church until the services. Memorial may be directed to Lakeside Lutheran High School or to St. John's Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
