Obituary of Ila Mae Webb

Ila Mae (Walmer) Webb passed away peacefully at Fairhaven on June 9, 2011, at the age of 102. She was born on February 4, 1909, the daughter of Floyd and Lettie (Flint) Walmer. Ila moved to Whitewater in 1913 and attended Whitewater Normal School. She married Eddie Webb in Rockford, IL on September 1, 1928. They were married for 61 years. They had one son, Richard. Ila began working for Wisconsin Telephone Co. in 1927 as an operator, and eventually became chief operator, continuing in that position until they went to dial service. She also worked part-time for Wisconsin Electric and the University switchboard. Ila was a member of the St. Luke�s Episcopal Church, Minnieska Chapter #149 and Seniors in the Park. She was a former member of St. Luke�s Altar Guild and the Historical Society. She loved her family, neighbors and friends, and was very proud to be a member of the Whitewater community. She enjoyed camping, swimming, playing cards, knitting and took great pride in the roses in her backyard. Surviving are her granddaughter, Jeri (Webb) Henry, her grandson-in-law, John S. Henry III, great grandson, John S. Henry IV all of Beaver Dam, and great granddaughter, Katie Jean Henry of La Crosse. Ila was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Webb, son, Richard Webb, sister, Adaline Walmer, parents, Floyd and Lettie Walmer, niece, Delores Bartz, and other relatives. A Memorial service will be held at Fairhaven in the chapel, 435 Starin Road, Whitewater, on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at 4:15 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Whitewater Seniors in the Park or St. Luke�s Episcopal Church, Whitewater.
