Obituary of Verna Irene Evenson

Verna Irene Evenson, Cambridge Verna Evenson, age 88, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at her rural Oakland Township home. She was born August 23, 1922 the daughter of Melvin and Ella (Lokken) Nettum. Verna graduated from Edgerton High School in 1940, and then attended Whitewater Normal School. She married Jeral Norman Evenson at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church parsonage on May 27, 1944. Together they enjoyed geneology, traveling, and dancing. She taught at Finches Corner School until beginning her family and working the farm with her husband. Norman preceded her in death on May 26, 1999. Verna enjoyed embroidery and was an avid photographer, but spending time with her family was always the priority. She was a member of Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge, Totenlag, and East Koshkonong Lutheran Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Obedience Circle. James A. Schwarz and Intern Pastor Miranda Hinrichs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 5-8 at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge, and after 10:00 am on Thursday at the church.
