Obituary of Gladys Alvina Winn

Gladys Alvina Winn, 96, of Whitewater, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Fairhaven in Whitewater. Gladys was born in Madison, WI on February 25,1915, the daughter of Ewald and Edith (VanKeulen) Yahn. She was a graduate of UW Madison and taught Home Econmics and Science in Albany, WI for several years. After a few years in Kansas, Gladys enjoyed life in her Whitewater Community for many years. She is survived by her son, Stephen (Carla) Winn of Witchita, KS; daughter, Barbara Winn of Green Bay; son, James Winn of Naperville, IL; and daughter, Elizabeth Winn of Whitewater; six grandchildren; Ashley (Clint) Gagel, Jamie Winn, Josh (Amy) Tincher, Annalisa (Arun) David, Marcus Tincher and Sara, and Trey Tincher; and 3 great grandchildren; Tyler, Andrew and Jackson Gagel. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Yahn. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 20, at Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb St. Whitewater, with Rev. Kendell Nordstrom officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison, WI. Memorials contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, WI or to The American Heart Association. A special thanks to the staff at Fairhaven, Dr. Donald Williams, and Hospice Care Inc. for the care and compassion given to Gladys.
