Obituary of Marlys Ione Klug

Marlys Ione KLUG of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, died July 15, 2011, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek, WI. Marlys was born on May 8, 1931 in Dane County to Lewis I. and Bertha (Dalsoren) Kjernes. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1948. On July 20, 1951 she married Norbert T. Klug at Cooksville Lutheran Church. Norbert preceded her in death on March 4, 1998.. Marlys earned her state teacher certification after 2 years attending the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, and in 1964, her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Marlys taught for 2 years in a rural Milton school, 2 years at a state graded school at Fulton, and then the rest of her 37 year teaching career was in Fort Atkinson teaching at Purdy, two years as teacher in charge, and aslo taught at Rockwell Elementary school. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, and Altar Guild and Shepherding. Marlys was an avid Packer Fan, and enjoyed volunteering at Countryside and at Twice is Nice, and Five Star Antiques. Surviving are: Daughter: Gail Klug, Fort Atkinson, WI; Grandson: Dustin (Angie) Hembrook, Jefferson, Grandson: Brandon Hembrook, Madison, WI; Granddaughter: Haley Koehler, Fort Atkinson, 2 Great Grandchildren: Ella Hembrook, and Lilly Linder; 2 sisters: Bonnie (Erwin) Konrad, Rockford, IL and Leona (Howard) Busch, Edgerton, Brother: Orlando Kjernes, Edgerton, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Lyle Kjernes, and 2 sisters-in-law: Caroline Kjernes, and Evelyn Gress. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Rainbow Hospice, or to American Cancer Society. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 4pm at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Scharrer and Pastor Michael Duncan officiating. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of service at the church. An evening burial will be held in the Lake View Cemetery, located in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin
