Obituary of Harland Howard Hoesly

Harland Howard Hoesly, age 69, of rural Deerfield, Wisconsin, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Edgerton Hospital surrounded by his family. Harland was born in Monroe, Wisconsin, on March 2, 1942, to Clarence and Annie (Elmer) Hoesly. He graduated from Evansville High School in 1960. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. On March 22, 1969, Harland married Bette Olia at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, Cambridge, Wisconsin. Harland worked at Uniroyal Engineered Products for 48 years where he loved his job and enjoyed his co-workers. Harland and Bette and their children raised many acres of tobacco through the years. He was a hard worker who loved farming and all animals, especially his three dogs. Harland loved playing euchre and many happy memories were made with two card clubs through most of his married life. Harland loved to see new places and was able to travel to many countries of Europe, visited relatives in Norway, attended an AFS son's wedding in Honduras, visited their AFS son in Chile, toured Tunisia, plus many different trips through the United States and Canada. Harland and Bette owned a real estate company in Cambridge for 15 years, and he was always behind the scenes helping out. Harland loved his family and was a wonderful best friend and husband to Bette for over 42 years. He was very proud of his children and there wasn't anything he wouldn�t do for them. His gentle nature made him a favorite of all of his grandchildren. He was very patient with them and played along with them for hours. Harland and Bette loved having kids in their home and they welcomed a foster daughter, two AFS students, and two students from France, as well as many friends of their own children. Harland was a member of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Bette Hoesly, rural Deerfield, WI; two sons�David Hoesly of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dan Hoesly (Cindy Parmer), of rural Cambridge, two daughters Amy Barketallah of Monona, and Angie (Marcus) Baker of Cambridge. His grandchildren are Zander and Romzy Barketallah, twin grandsons, Jackson and Benjamin Baker, and Thianna and Kolt Wegner, all who were very special to him. Harland is survived by two brothers�Milton (Belinda) Hoesly of McFarland, Wisconsin, and Bill (Pat) Hoesly of Columbia, South Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews. Harland was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Harland had guardian angels looking over him on more than one occasion. The family would like to thank the many wonderful healthcare providers who cared for him through the years. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday evening at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011, at 11 am at the East Koshkonong Lutheran Church with Rev. James Schwarz officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 am.
