Obituary of Clarence R. Melton

Clarence �Clair� R. MELTON, age 69, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at home, due to complications from emphysema. Clair was born in Saukville, Wisconsin on September 28, 1941, the son of Ray and Mildred (Jacobson) Melton. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1960. Clair served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1964, stationed in Bitburg, Germany for three years. On September 12, 1964, Clair married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Grossman at the Western Koshkonong Lutheran Church, rural Cottage Grove. He was employed by Walnut Grove 4x4 Feeds from 1965 to 1968 and then General Motors, Janesville, from 1968 until his retirement in 2000. Clair was a member of the UAW Local 95, a former member of the Moose Lodge #197, Janesville, and a member of the Cambridge/Deerfield American Legion Post. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and NASCAR fan, attending many races throughout the United States. �Surviving are: Wife: Gloria Melton, Cambridge, WI, Children: Steven (Dee) Melton, Plain, WI, Darren (Helen) Melton, Dodgeville, WI, and Darcy (Chad) Holzhueter, Cambridge, WI, seven grandchildren: NaDean, Jordan, Austin, Morgan, Terra, Alexis, and Anthony, sister: Shirley (Wilson) Manion, brothers: Lloyd (Barbara) Melton, and Edward (Linda) Melton, sisters-in-law: Edna Jacobson, Nancy Melton, Eunice Austin, Doreen Miller & Gaylene (Richard) Ireland. Clair was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Donald Jacobson and Melvin Melton, a sister Lillian Sorum, brothers-in-law: Jerry Sorum and Paul Austin, and sister-in-law Loretta Melton. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:00AM at Grace Lutheran Church, Cambridge, Wisconsin with Rev. Dan Dibbert officiating. Burial will be in the Rockdale Lutheran Cemetery, Rockdale, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI and after 10AM on Saturday at the church until the services.
