Obituary of Mildred Elaine Severson

Mildred Elaine SEVERSON, age 104, of Whitewater, Wisconsin formerly of Fort Atkinson pass away on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Fairhaven in Whitewater. Mildred was born in Fort Atkinson, WI. on July 29, 1907, the daughter of William E. and Lorena M. (Kiesling) Scharf. Mildred graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1925. She worked as a secretary for Aspinwall Insurance Agency as well as being a loving wife and mother. On October 23, 1934, Mildred married Dr. Sigurd H. Severson, DDS. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. Sigurd preceded her in death on August 15, 1994. Mildred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, the Vocational Homemakers, the American Legion Auxiliary and The Olive Club. Mildred had a wonderful voice, she was active in the church and sang for many weddings Surviving are: Her Children: Carol S. (Keith) Bartz, Naples, Fl, and Stephen W. Severson, Maple Grove, MN, Grandchildren: Cary Bartz, Stillwater, MN, Stephen D. (Pamela) Bartz, Lakeville, MN and Benjamin S. Severson, Maple Grove, MN, Great-Grandchildren: Tyler Volz, Stillwater, MN, and Herron Bartz, Lakeville, MN. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters; Wilma Hill, Margaret Anderson, and Lorene Kennedy. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011, at 2:00PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with Rev. Bryan Engfer officiating. Private family burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. Friends may call after 1PM on Monday at the funeral home until the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church Music Department.
