Obituary of Mildred Agnes Simdon

Mildred �Millie�Agnes SIMDON, age 86, of Fort Atkinson/Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at her home. Mildred was born on July 29, 1925 in Hebron, WI, the daughter of Albert and Adeline (Dorr) Brokmeier. She graduated from the Whitewater College High School and this past July attended her 69th class reunion as a member of the Class of 1942.. On August 12, 1944 she married Wilfred Simdon in Pocahontas, AR. Wilfred preceded her in death on November 27, 2001. Mildred and her husband resided in rural Cambridge where they operated the Packard Sinclair Station and later ran Lake Ripley Inn for 9 years. While in Cambridge they were charter members of the Ripley Riders Snowmobile Club and she was general leader of the Oakland Pines 4-H Club. Mildred was also Jefferson County�s 4-H camp cook for many years at Upham Woods. In the early 80�s the family moved to Fort Atkinson. She worked at Larsen Canning for 6 years, cleaned homes on and off throughout many years, did seasonal labor at the mink farm for 44 years, and very active in the Fort Health Care Partners as a volunteer and recently received her 4,000 hour bar. Mildred was a member of the Edwin Frohmader Post #1879 VFW Auxillary where she manned the kitchen for the Sunday breakfast for 12 years. She was chosen the National VFW Hospital Volunteer of the Year for 2010. Mildred also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, collecting cook books, cooking, puzzles, trips to Texas, playing cards, and always caring for other people. Surviving are: Daughter: Kathy (Ray �Sam�) Kakuschke, Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandson: Michael (Jenni Wolfgram) Kakuschke, Jefferson, WI, Great-granddaughter: Shelby Kakuschke, Jefferson, WI, Brothers: Alvin Brokmeier, Argonne, WI, Eugene "Gus" Brokmeier, Fort Atkinson, WI, Albert "Pete" (Trudy) Brokmeier, Whitewater, WI and Robert "Joe" (Janice) Brokmeier, Fort Atkinson, WI, and Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Ron (Ruth) Simdon, Cambridge, WI, Betty Simdon, Cambridge, WI, Arlene Turpin, Fort Atkinson, Betty Simdon, Hopkinsville, KY, Ida Simdon, London, WI , and Jacqueline Brokmeier, Whitewater, WI. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Orlin, Raymond, and Richard Brokmeier; 2 sisters: Mabel Spaulding, and an infant sister; 2 sisters-in-law: Gail and Dianne Brokmeier and two nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011, at 11:00AM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson, WI, with Hospice Chaplain Sister Shannon Finger officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 9AM on Saturday at the funeral home until the services.
