Obituary of Phillip James Stroupe

Phillip James STROUPE, age 83, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the The Black Hawk Senior Residence in Fort Atkinson, WI. Phillip James Stroupe was born in Rochester, Michigan December 20, 1927. The son of Harold and Lavina Stroupe. The family moved to Cold Spring, Wisconsin in 1928. He attended Whitewater High School. Phillip married Frances Mehltretter on October 6, 1951. Frances preceded him in death on April 20, 1994. They purchased a farm in the Fort Atkinson area in 1957 and eventually purchased two adjoining farms. He enjoyed farming until retiring in 1994. He received a farm conservation award in 1970 from the Wisconservation Club and in 1989 shared a Goodyear/NACD Conservation merit award in conservation with his son, William. He was a member of St. John's Community Church since moving to the area. In later years he enjoyed reading, going out to eat, talking to friends and walking. Surviving are: His Two Sons: Phillip (Patricia) Stroupe, Waukesha, WI, and William (Susan) Stroupe, Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandson: Eric Stroupe, Fort Atkinson, WI, Two Brothers: Fred (Wilner) Stroupe, Armstrong, MO, and David Stroupe, Cold Spring, WI, One Sister: Doris Kieselburg, San Antonio, TX, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances,a brother Del, and a sister Dawne Hilt. The family wishes to thank Dr. Elangovan, Dr. Williams, and all the staff members at the Black Hawk Senior Residence for the care and compassion they provided to Phil. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at 6:00PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Burial will be in the Cold Spring Cemetery, Town of Cold Spring, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 3-6PM on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson.
