Obituary of Robert Allen Jarlsberg

Robert �Bob� Allen JARLSBERG, age 86, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, in Madison, WI. Bob was born in Cambridge, Wisconsin on May 22, 1925, the son of Hans Olaf and Stella (Netland) Jarlsberg. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy two weeks prior to his graduation from Cambridge High School, so his father picked up his dipolma. He served from 1943 to 1946 achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. While serving aboard the U.S.S. George Destroyer Escort 697. Bob sailed from the Great Lakes to Okinawa, Japan. On April 30, 1949, Bob married Patricia Krening at Trinity Methodist Church in Racine, Wisconsin. Bob was employed at the local Chevrolet dealership for over 44 years. Bob was a lifelong member of the Willerup United Methodist Church in Cambridge, a long time board member of the Lake Ripley Institute and caretaker of Willerup Bible Camp. He sang tenor with the Norwegian Mens Greig Chorus for nearly 40 years. He was an avid bowler, bowling in league for 55 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #145. Bob was an avid sports fan following the Chicago Cubs, the Green Bay Packers and #17 Matt Kenseth. Surviving are his children: Perry Jarlsberg, Buford, GA, Connie Jarlsberg, Cambridge, WI, and Todd (Jayne) Jarlsberg, Cross Plains, WI, Grandchildren: Jennifer (Kenton) Rhoades, Kelli, Nich, & Caitlyn Jarlsberg, Great-Grandsons: Blake and Jackson Rhoades, a sister: Edith Kenseth, Cambridge, WI and Brothers: Wesley (Charlene) Jarlsberg, Edgerton, WI, and Kenneth (Joyce) Jarlsberg, Levittown, PA. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat and two brothers; Paul and Orvin. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 11:00AM at the Willerup United Methodist Church, Cambridge, WI with Rev. Brian Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Willerup Methodist Cemetery, in Cambridge, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI and after 10AM on Tuesday at the church until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the Lake Ripley Institute
