Obituary of Sandra Lee Carlin

Obituary: Sandra Lee Carlin, 870 Oakwood Lane, Watertown, Wisconsin Sandra Lee Carlin was born to Frances and Lloyd Tyler on August 13, 1951 at Wabasha, Minnesota. Went home to be with her Heavenly Father and parents on Thursday, November 10, 2011 after a four year battle with ovarian cancer. She had beaten the disease in 2007. It returned with a vengeance the summer of 2010. She passed away at home with her husband and daughter May by her side. She received Hospice care from Heartland Hospice. The family is grateful for the loving care and support their loved one received. Sandy was the sixth child in a family of ten children. She is one of six daughters. She was also a sister to four foster children. Sandy grew up in a very active home enjoying the love of her family. She also has loved our Lord and Savior her whole life, active in church and the mission field. Sandy�s early years were spent in Minnesota. When she was a toddler her family moved to Wisconsin. She graduated from Fort Senior High School June of 1969. Until the age of 19 she lived in Fort Atkinson, attended church at the Evangelistic Center. When she was 19 she met a soldier in Washington D.C., fell in love, was married and spent three years in New Delhi, India. Her husband Larry Glenn worked at the American Embassy for the United States Ambassador. She enjoyed her time in India, particularly enjoyed attending the Ambassador�s ball, her tour of the Taj Mahal, two weeks spent with her sister Betty when she was able to visit, and the company of friends. Upon her return to the states she and Larry went their separate ways but Sandy missed the Army lifestyle. She enlisted at the age of 26. She especially enjoyed her time in Arizona at Fort Huachuca. After her time in service she returned home spending time between Jefferson County and Rochester, Minnesota. She worked over the years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in hospitals and nursing homes. Later years she was a full time foster parent. Sandy gave birth to her daughter May Marie Glenn in May of 1981. Sandy entered the mission field with her young daughter when she joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM). She lived at Rock Castle in Powhatan, Virginia and Chico, California. She did local outreach and also traveled with her daughter to the mission field in the Caribbean. Her mother Frances Tyler at the age of 66 also became a missionary with YWAM. Frances was a missionary in the Philippines, China and South Korea. Sandy�s mission in life as was her mother was to spread the love of Jesus. Sandy married her husband Dan Carlin on October 2nd, 1993 At Rock River Assembly of God. Dan had three children. Sandy was now a mother/stepmother to four children. Dan and Sandy later adopted their foster daughter Heather when she was a toddler. Another foster child Brittany is much loved and like a daughter to them. Sandy�s small family has grown with the addition of five grandchildren. Sandy is a member at Watertown Community Church in Watertown, Wisconsin. She spent her life in service often entertaining in her home both her large extended family and church family. She enjoyed the time spent with family and friends especially during the holidays and when cheering on the Green Bay Packers to victory. She loved to cook, was a servant in so many ways with her generosity and kindness. She will be greatly missed but remembered with a warm glow of memories and love. Sandy is survived by her husband Daniel Carlin. Her daughter May Steigerwald (Jason, Grandson Jamyn Rukavina of Lake Mills), Heather Carlin (Madison), Ken Carlin (Michelle, Grandsons Scott and Brett Carlin of Fort Atkinson), David Carlin (Watertown), Kelly Seidel (John, Grandchildren Andrew and Abigail Seidel of Dallas, Texas). Sandy�s sister Gladys Keller passed away from cancer in April of 2001. She is survived by eight brothers and sisters. Ramona Heffron (Fort Atkinson), Charles Tyler (Belvidere, IL), Ruth Castillo (Watertown), Peter Tyler (Fort Atkinson), Betty Grams (Mark, Mayville), Samuel Tyler (Fort Atkinson), Jackie Stockfish (Jerry, Fort Atkinson), and Johnnie Tyler (Fort Atkinson). Funeral services will be held at Watertown Community Church, 106 E. Madison, Watertown, WI on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 12:00PM. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until 12:00PM followed by the service and small lunch. Internment will be with the family at Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
