Obituary of Ruth E. Schlieve

Ruth E. Schlieve, Age 82, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 15, 2011, at Fairhaven in Whitewater. She was born in Blanchardville Wisconsin on October 18, 1929. She graduated from Blanchardville High School. She attended Winona State Teachers College for two years and then transferred to Whitewater State Teachers College in Whitewater, WI where she graduated with a BS and then later returned to receive her Master Degree in Professional Development. Ruth loved children and enjoyed a fulfilling career as an elementary teacher spending most of her time instructing first graders. She taught in Preston MN, Stoughton WI and in Janesville WI. After she retired she was often a substitute for the Whitewater School district. Ruth was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, where she also served with The United Methodist Women on the Ruth circle. She was a state and local member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Kappa, and a member of the University of Whitewater/Wisconsin Alumni Association. Ruth married Rolland Schlieve in 1981 and they spent 28 years together enjoying many trips around America and overseas. Ruth�s greatest joy was spending time with family and especially her grandchildren. Ruth�s gentle caring spirit was demonstrated in her love for the children she taught, her grandchildren and in the lives of Paul and Diane who for 30 years she embraced as her own. Ruth was generous and lived a life of service to others. Surviving are: Brother: Phillip (Willyn) C Jorenby of Panama City Florida ,Step- daughter Diane ( Michael) Buhalog, McFarland, WI, Step -son Paul Schlieve, Oxford, WI, And Grandchildren: Adam, Stefan and Kristofer Buhalog of McFarland, WI,�sister-in-law Barb Jorenby of Hasting, MN, sister-in-law Jean Schlieve of Eau Claire, WI, brother-in-law Raymond Hiltunen of Minneapolis, MN, �and other nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held Saturday November 19, 2011 at 11:00 at the First United Methodist Church, Whitewater, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10:00AM on Saturday at the church until the services. Interment will be at York Memorial Lutheran Cemetery near Blanchardville, WI. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Mary (Paulson) Jorenby, her husband Rolland, �a brother Howard Jr., a brother Robert, and a sister Mary Hiltunen. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital, especially the oncology department, who helped Ruth fight her brave fight with breast cancer, along with the loving staff of Fairhaven who always treated Ruth like family. Memorials can be made to The First United Methodist Church, the America Cancer society, or the McFarland Educational Foundation. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater is assisting the family.
