I met Judy at the Cairo Cellar in Cairo Egypt in 1988. I was sitting with Jorge, the exiled Prince of Egypt and the exiled Prince of the Belgium Congo. Both of these gentlemen were right out of a novel and to be sitting with them having a drink was unreal. I happened to mention that I was from Southern Ca. but grew up in Winona Mn. and that is when Judy got my attention. She told me she was a tour guide and grew up across the river from me. I told her I was actually from Homer Mn and she said she was actually raised in Trempealeau WS. About three miles as the crow flies. Small world!!! I could see the lights of that village at night from my room. We became friends instantly and stayed in touch on occasion. I was only there for a couple of months in 1988 and again in 1992 working with the Egyptian military. She told me about the bad car accident after I had returned Stateside. it was sad that they had abandoned her in her condition. we had several phone conversations when she returned home and she talked about the Polka Bands. Like so many friendships you sort of drift apart and lose track of one another. Yesterday, 4/10/2016 I found a picture Judy had taken of the Sun set on the Pyramids and it triggered me again trying to chat with her. She had mentioned a book she was writing and I wondered if she finished it. I was shocked to learn of her passing. She was a friendly face in an alien nation and I was fortunate to make her acquaintance. My sincere condolences to her family.

In the mid 1990's, while I was a college student, I worked with your mom as a docent at the Tallman House. She was funny, smart, dedicated and passionate about so many things. I enjoyed working with her and hearing her stories about her family/grandkids, travels, music, beauty consulting and writing. She had a zest for life and was so much fun to be around. She was a beautiful and kind soul. I feel lucky to have known and worked with her as long as I did. She made an impact on me, as well as so many others. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Please know that your mom was a special lady, she will be missed.
