Obituary of Gerald A. Behm

Gerald (Jerry) A. Behm, 72, of Fort Atkinson, passed away Friday Jan 27, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after an extended illness. Jerry was born on Feb 21, 1939 to Alton and Mabel (Langer) Behm at the family farm in the Township of Oakland. He was a 1957 graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, and then married Shirley A. Wilcox on Sept 24, 1960. Jerry joined the Army National Guard shortly thereafter, where he became part of the Red Arrow 32nd Division. Jerry owned and operated a home construction business, and later became an over-the-road truck driver. Jerry loved spending time with his family, pets, and friends. He also later became involved in the hobby of high-powered model rocketry. Surviving are his wife, Shirley and his six children; Dennis (Karen) Behm of Fort Atkinson, Julie (Jamey) Waldron of Janesville, Jodi (Paul) Moerer of Whitewater, Tammy (Jeffrey) Bruch of Portage, Lisa (Keith) Roehl of Charleston, WV, and Jason (Sharee) Behm of Jefferson. Jerry is also survived by 1 brother, James (Viola) Behm of Cambridge, and sister, Shirley Vohs of Whitehall, 22 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters (Jean and Vivian), and 1 brother (Marvin). Visitation and memorial will be held at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson on Tuesday, Jan 31 from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb 1, at 11:00am, officiated by Rev. Cathy Price. Respects may also be paid from 1 hour prior until funeral services begin.
