Obituary of Doris M. Bienfang

Doris M. Bienfang, age 91,of Fort Atkinson passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Blackhawk Senior Residence in Fort Atkinson. Doris was born in Watertown,WI the daughter of Gilbert "Gib" and Florence (Milbrath) Knoerr. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School. Dorie was united in marriage to Woodrow F. "Woody" Bienfang on June 24, 1943 in Fort Atkinson. She was an accomplished athlete in her own right having won the Fort Atkinson City Tennis Championship several times along with being an avid bowler. Dorie continued her love of sports through her children and grandchildren's athletic events as a loyal follower and spectator. She enjoyed playing cards-in particular pinochle and bridge, and also gardening wild flowers. She was a member and long time volunteer of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Dorie also enjoyed time at the cottage in Crandon, WI. She volunteered in Women's Auxiliary at Fort Hospital. Survivors: Son - David P. (Kate) Bienfang, Fort Atkinson, WI Son - Paul K. (Noni) Bienfang of Hawaii Daughter - Marie C. "Mimi" (Dennis) Hahn, Merrimac, WI Grand Child - Luke (Michelle) Bienfang, Seattle, WA Grand Child - Matt Bienfang, Fort Atkinson, WI Grand Child - Adam (Jessi) Bienfang, Cottage Grove, MN Grand Child - Marni (Chad) Sakumoto of Hawaii Step Grand Child - Kelly (Bob Rowe) Braun, Stevens Point, WI 7 Great Grandchildren Brother - David (Pauline) Knoerr, Janesville, WI Sister - Mary Babcock, Fort Meyers, FL Brother-in-law - Edwin Wentz, Whitewater, WI She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982, and a sister Margaret "Mickey" Wentz. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 12:30 PM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson with Rev. Michael Duncan and Rev. Paul Scharrer officiating. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 11:00 AM until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice. The family extends a special thank you to LaDonna and the caregivers at Blackhawk Senior Residence and Rainbow Hospice for their care and support.
