Obituary of Lawrence H. Senger

Lawrence H. Senger, age 90, of Baraboo, WI passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at his home. Lawrence was born on September 10, 1921 in Plain, WI to John and Rosella (Schwartz) Senger. On June 29, 1949 he married Catherine Wipperfurth in Madison, WI. Lawrence was a hard worker, During WWII he drove bus for Badger Ordnance Plant, transporting workers to the plant. From 1946-1950 Lawrence worked with his brother George on rented property operating a sawmill in Merrimac. In 1950 Lawrence moved to Baraboo and started to run a sawmill on Terrytown road. In 1961 Lawrence opened a retail lumberyard at that location. Shortly after opening Senger Lumber Co., Lawrence planted 2,500 pine trees behind the lumberyard by hand, and developed that land into the Pine Acres subdivision in the early 1970�s. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph�s Catholic Parish in Baraboo. He was a founding member of Baraboo Contractor and Student Association. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Senger; 3 daughters: Karen (Robert) Luce, Baraboo, Elaine (Craig) Dittrich, Baraboo, and Pat (Al) Baade, LaValle; 2 sons: Mike Senger, Stoughton, and Steve (Wendy) Senger, Baraboo; 9 grandchildren: Dan (Tuesdee) Luce, Rich (Candi) Luce, Matt (Leah Rosenow) Luce, Charmaine (Tim) Martin, Michelle Dittrich, Michael Dittrich, LesLeigh, Kate, and Luke; 1 great grandson: Noah Martin; brother: George (Betty) Senger, Merrimac; sister: Catherine Otto, Bentonville, AK, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are 2 brothers: Valentine Senger and Francis Senger; and sister: Bernadine Coltharp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Joseph�s Catholic Parish, Baraboo, at 11am with Father Jay Poster celebrating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Redlin Funeral Home from 5-8pm and on Friday at the church from 10am until the time of service. Burial following the service will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Baraboo, WI Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the St. Joseph�s Catholic Parish, Baraboo, WI, or for a Mass in honor of Lawrence.
