Obituary of Vaneta P. Schumacher

Vaneta P. Schumacher, age 93, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Vaneta was born in Brookings, SD on December 18, 1918, the daughter of Edward T. and Eva Estelle (Jones) Pogue. The family moved to Madison in 1921 where Vaneta graduated from East High School, Madison, WI in 1936. In 1938, Vaneta married James E. Wood. James preceded her in death in 1962. On August 21, 1965, Vaneta married James J. Schumacher. James preceded her in death on November 2, 2006. Vaneta was employed at Jones Dairy Farm in accounts receivable for 20 years prior to her retirement. Vaneta was a women of strong faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. She enjoyed bicycling, bowling, and playing cards. Surviving are:Three Daughters: Judith J. (Wood) (David) Hack, Nancy E. (Wood) (Larry) Wendorf, and Marcie (Wood) (David) Roahen, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 29, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson,WI 53538 with Father Brian Wilk celebrating. Burial will be in the Ward Cemetery, Town of Oakland, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 10AM on Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rainbow Hospice, Jefferson, WI or to Family Promise of Jefferson County. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
