Obituary of Thomas Reynolds Knoll

Thomas R. Knoll passed into the arms of the Lord at home on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the age of 80. He was born to Kurt W. Knoll and Ferol (Reynolds) Knoll on October 18, 1931 at Fort Atkinson Hospital. He was baptized on March 25, 1934 and confirmed in 1945 at First Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson. He graduated from Fort Atkinson Senior High School in 1949. He served in the Army National Guard and was Honorably Discharged on July 20, 1950. On that very day he joined the US Airforce and served in the Korean War in Weisbaden, Germany. During his station in Germany he married the "Love of His Life," Janet Leah Kutz on September 27, 1952 at Weisbaden American Chapel in Weisbaden, Germany. He served in the US Airforce until August 12, 1954 and reenlisted from August 12, 1955 until August 11, 1959. He served at bases in Weisbaden, Germany; Colorado Springs, CO; Keflavik, Iceland; and Paxton, IL. He was blessed with two children, Jacquelyn Anne (Knoll) Cloute and Kurt Lawrence Knoll. He confirmed his faith as an adult on February 5, 1956 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, WI. In his life he was part owner of Better Sox Knitting Mill and sold real estate for Jim Weiss Realty and Wayne Hayes Real Estate. His interests were golf, fishing, hunting and what he loved best was spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father Kurt W. Knoll on March 14, 1932 and his mother Ferol E. (Reynolds) Knoll on April 13, 1984. Thomas is survived by his wife of 59 years of marriage, Janet (Kutz) Knoll , children-Jacquelyn (James) Cloute, Kurt L. Knoll, grandchildren-Philip J. Cloute (girl friend Aileen Schultz) all of Fort Atkinson and Jennifer A. Cloute of Bloomingdale, IL. Sister-in-law-Charlotte Wendorf and Brother-in-law-Richard Kutz, Cousins-Janice Bostad, Audrey Hutchinson, Dennis and Val Bostad, Jeanne Bostad and many other relatives and friends. Visitation and Funeral will be on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, WI. Visitation begins at 9am until the Funeral Service at 11am. Lunch will follow the funeral in the fellowship hall. Burial Service with military rights will be at Cold Spring Cemetery in Cold Spring, WI following the lunch. Those wishing to express their sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Rainbow Hospice. Nitardy Funeral Home is assisting the family.
