Obituary of James Carl Schmidt

James Carl Schmidt, age 82, of Janesville, WI passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin. James was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin the son of Carl and Edna (Habel) Schmidt. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1947. After high school, Jim enlisted in the Army Air Corps, achieving the rank of staff sergeant and serving as an instructor at the weather observation school until his discharge in 1952. In 1955, Jim married Margaret Elaine Stenli. Margaret preceded him in death on October 21, 2006. Jim worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 21 years, retiring in 1990. Surviving are: Five children: Jon (Jan) Schmidt, Madison, WI, Steven (Judene) Schmidt, Elkhorn, WI, Sharon (Brian) Fell, Grand Prairie, Texas, James Schmidt, Grand Marsh, WI, and William Schmidt, Cudahy, WI, Fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son Michael Schmidt in 2000. Graveside Services with Military Rites will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the West Koshkonong Lutheran Cemetery, 1911 Koshkonong Road, Stoughton, WI, with Rev.
