Obituary of Grace Caroline Pohlman

Grace Caroline (Radloff) Pohlman, age 94 of Cambridge, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Grace was born June 17, 1918, to Henry and Clara (Albrecht) Radloff. She married Carlyle "Stub" Pohlman in 1936 and shared over 65 years of marriage together before his death in 2002. The couple lived in the London area where they raised three children, Ronald (Marian) Pohlman, Charles (Sandra) Pohlman, and Katherine (Darrell Hinchley) Fox before moving to Edgerton after Stub's retirement and than later back to Cambridge, WI. Grace attended Stony Brook Grade School and worked at a boarding house in Lake Mills, cleaning and ironing as a teen. After her marriage to Stub they lived in Deerfield where Stub worked at the Deerfield Creamery in addition to running the family farm, they later established their home in London, WI until retirement when they then moved to Edgerton. Grace and Stub shared the love of baseball, Stub playing and Grace cheering him on. Together they spent many great times dancing, fishing, visiting with their many friends, and tending their vegetable garden. Stub fondly referred to her as "Amazing Grace." She enjoyed being a homemaker and her time in the kitchen. She loved working as a volunteer in the coffee shop at the Edgerton Hospital for several years. Grace saw the dawn of four generations in her family and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden, her two cats, and visiting with her family, many friends and neighbors. Grace had a tremendous Christian faith and was an active member at the London Moravian Church her entire life. She was well known for dishing out her homemade "Grandma" donuts, which were enjoyed by everyone from the local Schwan's man to roommates of her grandchildren. Grace was a wonder-women when it came to baked goods, sharing her love with the world through Christmas cookies, and her famous Norwegian lefse. Grace was well known for her good sense of humor, great smiles, and her stubborn resilience to give in to old age as she maintained her spunky attitude throughout her golden years. She will be greatly missed by us all, but is now probably doing the polka with Stub in Heaven!
