Obituary of Florence Kathrine Mathison

Florence Kathrine Mathison, 91, of Cambridge, passed away in the presence of her family on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Alden Estates in Jefferson WI. Florence was born on May 12, 1921 to Carl and Gunda (Olson) Larson at home on the Homestead Farm in the Township of Christiana. Baptized, confirmed, and an active member of Steadfast Circle and WELCA of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church in Cambridge. She attended the Smithback School. She married Nels "Neil" Mathison on August 11, 1945. Neil preceded her in death on June 23, 1983. Florence worked in the grocery business for 49 years. She enjoyed playing cards, yahtzee, stitchery, watching the Milwaukee Brewers, an avid bird watcher, volunteering at Skaalen Home, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by a son Arvid (Linda) Mathison, daughter Janet (Jerry) DeForest all of Cambridge, daughter Jean (Richard) Tessmer of Mossyrock WA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Donald (Barb) Larson, Cambridge; brother-in-law Art Johnson, Edgerton; many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters, and a nephew. Visitation to be held at Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge on Friday , August 17, 2012 from 5-8 pm. Funeral services to be held at East Koshkonong Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 11:30 am with an hour visitation starting at 10:30 am. with Pastor Margo Martens officiating. Burial will be in the East Koshkonong Cemetery immediately following the services. Those who wish to offer an expression of sympathy may contribute to Agrace Hospice and/or East Koshkonong Lutheran Church. The Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge assisted the family.
