Obituary of Janice M. Smithback

Janice M Smithback, age 83, of Rockdale, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at her home. She was born on April 11, 1929 in Watertown, WI the daughter of Gordon and Ruth (Stetson) Crump. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1947. Janice married Robert Smithback on September 3, 1948 at Cambridge Presbyterian Church. She had a deep love for Bob, and has missed her husband since his death on September 30, 1998. Together they owned and operated the Rockdale Mill for 42 years. Janice did bookwork for the mill, and also enjoyed sewing, was a gifted seamstress, and wrote 2 cookbooks. She was an active member of Rockdale Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, chairing the Meatball Supper for over 40 years. She is survived by her 5 children: Tom Steven Mary Stenklyft Ruth (Terry) Johnson David (April) all from the Rockdale/Cambridge area. 11 Grandchildren 11 Great Grandchildren 2 Brothers: Bob and Chuck Crump Sister-in-Law: Lorraine Thorpe Also survived by nieces and nephews who she was a second mother to. Funeral Services will be held at the Rockdale Lutheran Church, 107 Water Street, Rockdale, Wisconsin at 11:00 AM, on Friday, September 14, 2012, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating. Interment will be in the Rockdale Lutheran Cemetery, Rockdale, WI Friends may call from 4-7PM on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park Street, Cambridge, WI, and after 10AM on Friday at the church until the services.
