Obituary of Mildred Dorothy Muenzenberger

Mildred (Millie) Dorothy Muenzenberger, age 86, of Cambridge (Coon Valley) WI, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012, peacefully at her home. Mildred was born in the Town of Bangor, La Crosse County, WI on May 26, 1926, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Souchek) Cornell. On April 5, 1945, Mildred married Clarence R Muenzenberger at St Peter's Catholic Church in Middle Ridge, WI. Clarence preceded her in death on February 4, 1997. Mildred worked as a housekeeper and nursing assistant for 22 years at Villa St Joseph, La Crosse, WI. Mildred was a longstanding member of St Peter's Catholic Church in Middle Ridge and served as president of St Peter's Altar Society. Over the years she baked numerous pies and cakes for church dinners and picnics. In her early years she loved to dance and even considered playing drums in her husbands polka band. Mildred was an avid flower gardener. She loved bright colored annuals and always had many plants around her home. Mildred relocated from the Coon Valley area to Cambridge in 1998 where she became a member of St Pius X Catholic Church. She spent the next 2 years caring for her elderly mother. Mildred made many close friends in Cambridge and loved spending time with them. She especially enjoyed going out for lunch and an afternoon of shopping. Surviving are: Children: Sharon (Stephen) Gasper, Cambridge, WI and Donald (Janice) Muenzenberger, West Salem, WI, Grandchildren: Kimberly (Dale) Zuelsdorf, Daniel (Jennifer) Gasper, Dawn Mohoney (Jay Bowe), Traci Strand (Paul Hausz), Elizabeth Muenzenberger and Jessica Muenzenberger, and Great-Grandchildren: Kiefer, Ethan, Nina, Nate, Sophia, Stephen, Samuel, Christopher, Lillian and Lauren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a great-grandson, Dustin "Dozer" Zuelsdorf. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St Pius X Catholic Church, Cambridge, WI with Father Dave Timmerman celebrating. Friends may call after 10:00AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the church until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Middle Ridge, WI at 11AM on Saturday, October 6, 2012, the family will gather at 10:30AM for a time of visitation prior to the burial.
