Obituary of Dorothy Mae Ellestad

Dorothy Mae Ellestad, age 88, of Fort Atkinson, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012. Dorothy was born in the Town of Christiana, Wisconsin the daughter of Evan and Clara (Strommen) Norgord. She grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison East High School. On July 14, 1945, Dorothy married Theodore "Ted" Ellestad who preceded her in death in 2011. Dorothy was a resident of Fort Atkinson for 58 years. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and skillful homemaker, she was a longtime member of Faith Community Church where she volunteered in a variety of church activities, including the Ladies' Missions Fellowship and the children's AWANA Club. Community activities included helping with Meals on Wheels. Dorothy was also a sports enthusiast and cheered for all the Wisconsin teams. Surviving are: two children, Sally (David) Ivaska, Evanston, IL, and T. Jon (Kelly) Ellestad, Lexington, VA: grandchildren: Andy, Peter, JJ (Courtney), and James Ivaska, and Clay (Wendy), Kurt, Ricky, Paige, and Julia Ellestad, great-grandchildren Zadie, Harper, and Teo Ivaska, and Lilianna, Evan, Sage, and Charlotte Ellestad. She is further survived by seven brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Faith Community Church, Fort Atkinson, preceded by visitation from 1:30 p.m. and followed by interment of cremains in the church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Community Church, Fort Atkinson, WI, Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson WI, or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Madison, WI. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI is assisting the family.
