August Steinbrecher

Obituary of August Frederick Steinbrecher

August Frederick Steinbrecher, Jr. (Fred) passed away at his home in Cambridge, WI on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the age of 74. The son of Augie and Loretta Steinbrecher, Fred was born in Johnstown, PA and moved with his family to Chicago before settling in Oshkosh, WI. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1956 and attended the University of Wisconsin. He returned to Oshkosh and worked at the First Wisconsin National Bank and later at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. During that time he directed and acted in productions of the Oshkosh Community Players and was active in the early Save the Grand movement. For a brief time he followed in his fathers footsteps and worked as a wholesale mens clothing salesman, traveling throughout Wisconsin to serve a variety of stores. He settled in Deerfield, WI and worked for MPI Wisconsin Fineblanking for over 20 years, retiring as a quality control supervisor and instructor. He loved the teaching aspect of his job at MPI, almost as much as he loved a good joke (or a bad one), a creative political argument, classic TV series and cult movies only he remembered. He read voraciously but was partial to history books and magazines. He enjoyed having his family around him and was proud of his childrens successes and service to the country. Fred is survived by his wife Sherry, daughter Milda, sons Nicholas, Jonathon and Jeremy, brothers James (Sandy) and John (Barb), his sister Sally Mitchell, and much loved nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation will be held at the Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge, WI at 10:00 on Saturday, October 27, 2012, followed by a service at 11:00 conducted by Dr. Rev. James Steinbrecher. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a gift to your local animal shelter or humane society be given in Freds name.
