Obituary of Richard Lee Armstrong

Richard Lee Armstrong, age 94, of Cambridge, WI, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home. Richard was born in the Town of Oakland, Wisconsin on April 2, 1918, the son of William and Caroline "Carrie" (Gehrke) Armstrong, and lived there all his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing duty in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded a Purple Heart. Richard worked as a self employed painter. Richard was a member of the VFW and in May of this year, was able to participate in the Veterans Honor Flight. Richard is survived by nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Harlan, Edgar, Aaron, Irene Larson, Harold, Viola Greer, Charles, and William. Richard was especially proud of his military service and the fact that he lived his entire life on the family farm. Friends may call from 4-6PM on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park Street, Cambridge, WI. Burial with military rites will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. .
