Obituary of Elizabeth Messmer

Elizabeth Messmer, 90, of Jefferson, entered eternal life through Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Willowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lake Mills, WI. Elizabeth was born on January 6, 1922 in Cold Spring Township to Walter and Winifred (Butler) Cooper. She was employed as a school teacher until she married Edwin Messmer on June 1, 1945. Elizabeth was a member of the 4-H for several years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, spending time with her family and loved to travel. Elizabeth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Jefferson and was a charter member of the Lakeside Lutheran High School Ladies Guild. She is survived by; Son, Edwin (Kathleen) Messmer, Johnson Creek, WI, Daughters; Edith (Reynold) Kremer, Germantown,WI, Emily (Jerry) Chwala, Jefferson, WI, Ellen Messmer, Jefferson, WI, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, Brother, Maurice (Geraldine) Cooper, DeForest, WI., other in-laws, nieces, nephews and relatives. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, her parents, brothers; Walter, Alan and Francis, sisters; Ruth and Lucile. Funeral Services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jefferson on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 12:00pm. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 10:30am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Christberg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Lutheran High School.
