Obituary of Daniel Jay Bilstad

Daniel Jay Bilstad, age 52, of Cambridge, WI died on Saturday, February 2, 2013, of a heart attack at Meriter Hospital in Madison. Daniel was born September 16, 1960. He resided in Cambridge his entire life. Dan was a very loving and generous man and will be missed by many friends and his family. Dan graduated from Cambridge High School in 1979. He was an Eagle Scout. Dan owned and operated Dan's Auto Body since 1977, specializing in restoring Cadillac's and was known as the "Caddy Man." Dan had a great love for old cars, fire and police work, and also medicine. Dan had a large collection of Garfield memorabilia, fire trucks, auto shop manuals, and much more. Dan was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, ringing bells. Dan enjoyed helping others, enjoyed writing , and cared deeply about the environment. Dan loved animals. Dan will be missed by his dog Cuddles, his dog Grizzly and his cat Jules. Dan is survived by parents Kenneth of Cambridge and Teresa of Jefferson, sisters: Vickie Bilstad, Fort Atkinson, Sharon (Gary) Haberkorn, Cambridge, nephew: Michael Haberkorn, Cambridge, niece: Julie (Jeffery) Johnson, Fort Atkinson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a very special friend, Betsy. Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents: Grant and Hazel Bilstad and Clarence and Isabelle Woelffer, and his uncles: Rollin Bilstad and Earl Christensen. Friends may call from 4PM to 8PM on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI followed by a prayer service at 8PM.
