David Byrne was a good friend to my dad, Rev Art Stratemeyer in Franklin Park. I remember that our family had the pleasure of visiting Dave and Beth at the Whitewater A-frame and enjoying the water. He was a positive influence on the Leyden schools and a great guy! I’d like to express my condolences to Dave’s family.

I'm a East Leyden graduate Class of 1982. Dr. Bryne was extremely nice to my brother and myself and to all those at Leyden greeting everyone at the start of each day. If a student had a problem, Dr. Byrne was there to lend a hand in resolving the matter post haste reassuring the student(s), all would be well. He was a warm, compassionate, yet professional gentleman at all times. A man who will be greatly missed by many. We thank him for all his years of service to the Leyden community. Rest in peace.
Dr. Byrne will forever be remembered as an educational icon who positively influenced the lives of thousands of young people. I send my sympathy to his family and colleagues.
