Obituary of Daryl Broker

Daryl David Broker, 80, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on February 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. 

Daryl was born on November 28, 1938 in Watertown, WI to the late Sylvan and Margaret (Trieloff) Broker. 

Daryl was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, WI.  He graduated from Lake Mills High School, class of 1956.  In February 1957 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in February 1959.  He began work shortly after at Thomas Industries where he met the love of his life, Ruthann Wenzel.  They were married on June 22, 1963 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome, WI.  They were blessed with two daughters, Nancy and Lisa.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He and Ruthann most loved spending time up North and spending time with their grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruthann, daughters Nancy (William) Turnbull of Bartlett, IL and Lisa (Jason) Badura of East Troy, WI, brother Robert (Anne)Broker of Keller, TX, granddaughters Anastasia and McKinzi Leahy of Minneapolis, and Kylee Leahy of Bartlett, IL, dear friend Judy Waldmann of Jefferson, WI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins  and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark and sister Kathleen in infancy, brother-in-law Terry Johnson, and lifelong friend Elmer Waldmann.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Tuesday, February 26th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 301 S High Street, Fort Atkinson, WI. with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00am until the time of service.  Interment will be at Rock River Cemetery in Jefferson immediately after the service.  A gathering will follow at the Legion Dugout in Fort Atkinson. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fort Atkinson or Rainbow Hospice.

The family would like to thank Dan Rueth, Don Fass, the Staff at Rainbow Hospice, especially Lauren and John, the Physicians and staff of UW Health – Dr. McGuire, Dr Heiner and Erik Bonifas, Pastor Ernest and Pastor Vik, and Art Deas.

Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
